Project Management

I can provide professional advice throughout the life of the project.

Project Management services include:

  • Working closely with my clients and the statutory authorities to oversee all manner of construction projects.
  • Experience in managing, coordinating and arranging projects through conception, planning, design, procurement and construction.
  • Preparation of contract documents, invitations to tender, contract award, contract administration and; monitoring of the works during construction to provide confidence in the works being undertaken correctly and to the appropriate standards.
  • Preparation of detailed specifications and schedules of works and tender packages.
  • Detailed knowledge of bridge asset management and maintenance prioritisation working to LoBEG guidance.

Infrastructure and Civil Engineering

I have expertise in designing foundations for structures on difficult ground or with special design requirements. These include; reinforced concrete ground beams, bored and driven piled foundations, rafts and water retaining structures and basements. 

I have experience in underpinning and sub-structure works and the design of earth retaining structures is undertaken considering the situation at hand, and in a structural form to suit the site and project requirements.  

I am able to offer a range of infrastructure and civil engineering services, including:

  • Planning and detailed design of civil engineering and infrastructure projects to current design standards, including highways, roads and paving, drainage and sewerage solutions, including sustainable drainage systems.
  • Investigation of historic mine workings and stabilisation of mining features.
  • Structural design, including retaining walls and bridges .
  • Works to listed buildings and scheduled ancient monuments.
  • Provision of concise and co-ordinated designs for roads, railways and drainage by utilising advanced analysis tools and intelligent modelling.
  • Ground investigation may include straight forward trail pit investigations or working with Geotechnical Engineers to establish the appropriate ground parameters.
  • Design for structures adjacent to the Highway, including consulting with the Technical Approval Authority to obtain Approval in Principle (AIP), and submissions of Design and Check Certificates.

Historic Building Conservation

My knowledge of historic building construction and traditional materials allows me to provide ingenious and achievable solutions for refurbishment and remedial activities.

I can provide advice for sustainable construction and heritage conservation projects, including:

  • Liaison with Local Authority Conservation Officers, the Environment Agency, Historic England and submission of Listed Building and Conservation Area Applications.
  • I have experience working with historic buildings, which can suffer with issues, including; bulging walls, cracking, roof spread or settlement and water ingress.
  • I am experienced in traditional building construction including; natural stone, cob walling and oak framing.

Insurance Claims

I have experience in working with insurers and clients on projects where the property has been damaged by fire, flood, subsidence, storm, landslip or other events resulting in an insurance claim.

I am able to offer a sensitive service approach parties working through challenging events.

Environment and Conservation

I can provide advice for sustainable construction and conservation projects, including:

  • Flood prevention and works in and adjacent to watercourses requiring permits and consents from the Marine Management Organisation and the Environment Agency.
  • Sustainable urban drainage solutions (SUDs).
  • Sustainable timber framing.
  • Natural alternatives to common construction materials such as; straw bales, sheeps wool insulation, recycled paper insulation and rammed earth tire and glass bottle walling

Mentoring and Supervision

Having previously managed the engineering graduates for a national contractor I am able to provide mentoring and supervision services for engineering graduates wishing to either develop their skills or progress through graduate training programmes with engineering institutions.

Stay in the Know

My turnaround time varies throughout the year, but I always try to provide an accurate and honest timescale at the quotation stage. I try to keep some spare capacity to help clients out that may have been let down by others, or where an emergency has arisen. I always aim to respond to queries in as short a time as possible.

​I am pleased to offer free quotations for projects, where possible. In some cases, where the full scope of works is unknown, I may charge an initial fee for a site visit or meeting, following which, I can provide a detailed and accurate fee proposal for the whole project.

​I work with a varying range of clients, from homeowners and small local builders to large national and international companies.

My hourly rate is typically £75.00 per hour, however, I can provide a price on a lump sum arrangement or day rate as required to suit your requirements. 

All of my work is backed by Professional Indemnity Insurance to the value of £1,000,000, Public Liability Insurance to the value of £5,000,000 and Products Liability Insurance to the value of £5,000,000.

Additional levels of cover can be arranged if required, however, this might incur an additional charge.
