William Dale Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer
As a Chartered Engineer I am able to bring my passion for construction and engineering to my own business. As a sole-trader, I am able to combine the big business drive for efficient design with the local business personal touch.
I keep abreast with developments in the industry and maintain my Continuing Personal Development records in excess of those required by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation of which I am a member (MCIHT) and the Engineering Council through which I maintain my Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
I am an active STEM ambassador who has managed activity days for local schools focusing on topics from an engineering perspective. I also participate in other voluntary activities such as beach cleaning events.
I lead EM Highways efforts within Area 3 in promoting an engaging Graduate Training Programme, was a member of the Graduate Steering Group and was an SCE and DE for graduate engineers.
I managed the CAD and BIM output from Area 3 having contributed heavily into the re-writing the companies CAD Standards Manual.
Outside of engineering
Outside of engineering I help to coach my sons rugby team and even referee their matches on occasion.
I also compete at amateur Strongman competitions to raise money for charities such as the Royal British Legion Industries and Wooden Spoon, The Children’s Charity of Rugby.
This year I am raising money for the Wooden Spoon, The Children’s Charity of Rugby. If you would like to sponsor me and help raise money for this excellent cause please follow this link.
Although the two competitions I had entered for this year have been postponed until next year the training is continuing. I will update this page with the competition dates as they are confirmed.
Domestic and international experience
I have worked on projects all over the globe; from Virginia in the USA, Brittany in France, Fehmarn Belt between Denmark and Germany and a spell on site in Libya as the senior engineer on the clients side for the construction of the new Benghazi International Hub Airport during the 2011 Arab spring.
